A tooth is only as strong as its surrounding and supporting structures. The department that deals with these surrounding structures is the Department of Periodontics, which is ably headed by Prof. Dr. Shivjot Chhina. She is an alumna of the very prestigious Maulana Azad Medical College, Delhi and Government Dental College, Ahmedabad, from where she pursued her BDS and MDS respectively. She has completed a 300 Hour Maxi Course by the American Academy of Implant Dentistry in 2009-2010 and also holds a diploma in Laser Dentistry from the American Academy of Laser Dentistry, 2011.

Professor Shivjot Chhina is highly skilled in periodontal surgeries, implant surgeries and LASER dentistry. She is a perspicacious academician and has been a guide and co -guide to over 25 post graduate students. She has over 46 publications, is a reviewer for various national and international journals of repute and has served as a guest faculty and subject expert at various scientific deliberations.

Dr. Shivjot is the recipient of the ‘Best Dissertation award’ from the American Academy of Implant Dentistry and has been conferred an appreciation award for her Scientific Contributions by the Indian Society of Periodontology.
