What is a Dental implant?
A dental implant is a metal post that replaces the root portion of a missing tooth. It is an artificial tooth that is placed on an extension of the post on the dental implant, that gives you the look of a real tooth.
Symptoms
Have one or more missing teeth. Have a jawbone that's reached full growth. Have adequate bone to secure the implants or are able to have a bone graft.
Consquences of not geting is done
In case of a missin tooth, Our teeth tend to shift toward the spaceing area. Loss of bone at the site of missing tooth difficulty in mastication and also compromises the asthetic of a person. Waiting to get your implant can also cause you to bite your tongue and cheeks more. While this doesn't sound like anything major, it can quickly lead to problems with eating. You can also cause further damage to your oral health by overtaxing the side of your mouth that doesn't have a missing tooth.
What Happens after Dental Implant ?
If there is any swelling due to the surgery that will subside within a few days . Revisit dentist for check-up.
Past treatment care
Do not spit. Use a tissue to wipe your mouth as needed, or swallow your saliva. Do not use a drinking straw. Drink straight from the cup. Do not smoke. Keep fingers and tongue away from the surgical area. Stick to soft diet and avoid hot liquids and spicy items for a few days following oral surgery. After 3-4 days, you should be able to return to a normal diet, but avoid biting on hard items in the area of the implant until it is fully healed.
